We’re always on the hunt for fun and exciting new items for our animal-filled homes, so we headed off to the Home & Garden Pet Product Showcase presented by Pet News Now in New York City.
From toasters that pop out bread imprinted with dog shapes to remote-controlled pet door openers, we found five products that will please everyone — whether you have four legs or two.
We've never thought of toast as something that could be fun and cute — until now. The pet toasters from Pangea Brands are available in 13 popular dog breed shapes such as Labs and Bulldogs. Best of all, if your pooch isn't represented or you can't pick just one breed to emblazon on your bread, they also have an "I Love My Dog" toaster that pops out your bread with bone and paw-print shapes. Breakfast just became our favorite meal.
Pangea Brands Pet Toast, $34.99.

In fact, the attractive piece of furniture recently appeared in the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua 3.

Who says cat toys have to be limited to toy mice and feather wands? The clever folks at Polydactyl Cats came up with catnip-filled toys in a very unique shape — sauce packets that you find in Chinese takeout. Choose from soy sauce, duck sauce, hot sauce or hot mustard for your playful kitty. Even the packaging plays off the Chinese food-inspired theme, as the sauce toys come wrapped in egg roll baggies. With toys so cute and unique, you might not even want to put them away when company comes over — they're great conversation starters.
Polydactyl Cats Sauce Packet Cat Toys, $12-$14 each.
Les Kelly grew tired of waking up at 4 a.m. and walking down two flights of stairs to let out his puppy when she woke up, so he invented the EasyOut Remote Pet Door Opener, a device that lets you release your pet from her crate with the ease of a remote control. The simple-to-install product works from several floors up or 50 feet away, and it works on wire pet crates, pens and pet home doors with lateral motion latches.
EasyOut Remote Pet Door Opener, $59.99-$69.99.
