Comfort-Dogs-in-the-Making Prepare to Train

Therapy dogs need to be calm and well trained. But being absolutely adorable doesn’t hurt, either.

This stroller full of sweet Golden Retriever puppies is due to start training soon to become Comfort Dogs.

“Three future LCC K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs stopped by the office this morning!” the group said when it shared this photo on Facebook this week. “This bundle of joy will start their training next month!”

The Illinois-based K-9 Parish Comfort Dogs have made a lot of news recently with their visits to the scenes of some high-profile tragedies. Most recently, the dogs traveled to Prescott, Ariz., where 19 Hot Shot firefighters died in the line of duty. They also spent time in Moore, Okla., the site of a devastating tornado in May, and were on the scene after April's marathon bombings in Boston, Mass., and the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., in December.

When they’re not helping disaster victims, comfort dogs spend their days in schools and churches, and visit nursing homes and hospitals.
