Disney Creates “Lady and the Tramp” Ad for Shelter Pets

The animated stars of the 1955 Disney classic Lady and the Tramp are making a new appearance — on a billboard promoting pet adoption.

The lovable crew featured in the ad for the Shelter Pet Project includes the refined Cocker Spaniel Lady and the stray mutt who wins her over, Tramp. In the movie, Tramp eventually captures the hearts of Lady’s owners and gets his own coveted collar and license for Christmas.

The cute billboard also includes their litter of puppies, their pals and even the Siamese cats from the film, with the tag line “You are the best thing to happen to a shelter pet.”

When the Shelter Pet Project, which is collaborative including the Humane Society, Maddie’s Fund and the Ad Council, posted a picture of the billboard on Facebook, it quickly had more than 1,200 likes — and lots of comments, including some fan suggestions for other Disney dogs who could campaign for the group, like the stars from 101 Dalmatians, Lilo and Stitch, and Bolt.
