More than 1.2 million pets found forever homes during this winter's Iams Home 4 the Holidays campaign — that's an average of nine new adoptions every minute! Since its start in 1999, the annual 95-day campaign, which ended Jan. 3, has partnered with more than 4,000 animal organizations around the world helping raise awareness and support pet adoption.

The effort, which placed 1,267,541 dogs, cats, rabbits, birds and reptiles, brought the total number of adoptions to more than 7 million since the project began. Dogs won out as the most popular adoptees, at 651,224 adoptions, but the cats didn't trail too far behind: 595,000 felines found homes this year.

And in the second year of its Bags 4 Bowls campaign, Iams assisted in the donation of 5 million meals to pets in need. The program encouraged participants to share online adoption announcements, purchase specific bags of Iams food and "like" the Iams Facebook page, all of which resulted in food donations for needy animals.

You can learn about the 2012 campaign, which kicks off next October by visiting the Iams Facebook page.
