Feline Mayor Draws Tourists to Alaska Town

He’s not always open to questions, and he’s often caught sleeping on the job — but the residents of Talkeetna, a small Alaska town located at the base of Mount McKinley, are still pleased with Mayor Stubbs. He was first elected 15 years ago as a write-in because voters were unhappy with the candidates on the ballot. Celebrity Black Bear Is Tranquilized in Los Angeles

He was known around town as “Glen Bearian,” and made headlines by raiding trashcans in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale. The beloved black bear even has a Twitter handle, which he uses to send virtual bear hugs. But it looks as if his free-roaming ways have come to an end: Glen Bearian was recently tranquilized and relocated. Happy News for an Abused Pup in Texas Named Hope

The Pug mix, who was found brutally mistreated in Texas last week, now has a loving home. Charlie and Kit Moncrief, who discovered Hope abandoned on their ranch, have adopted her. “I can't think of a better family for Hope to belong to,” said Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler. “She will think she is in heaven at her new home with her new family." — Read it at Yahoo News

BPA May Cause Interspecies Breeding in Fish

A new study finds that Bisphenol A, or BPA, a chemical used in the manufacturing of some plastics, can change the appearance and behavior of river fish enough to lead to interspecies breeding. Dog Whisperer Gets Advice From Kelsey Grammer

Cesar Millan, host of the Dog Whisperer, may have gone to Kelsey Grammer’s home to advise the actor on his problem pups — but he got a little advice of his own while taping the episode, which is part of the final season of the controversial series. "We both were going through our divorce; it really turned into almost like therapy for me," says Millan. “Obviously, I helped him with his dogs . . . But I got to be with the human side of him.
