A painting of Bo Obama running through the snow is featured on the White House holiday card.

Bo Obama: Dog of the Season

He inspects the tree, inspires the decorations, and now, Bo Obama is front and center on this year’s White House holiday card, which features a photo-like painting of the Portuguese Water Dog dashing through the snow in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The card, illustrated by Iowa artist Larassa Kabel, was released on Thursday. Kabel says that while she made the painting, her own dog, Beans, a Boston TerrierPug mix, sat by her side in the studio, as he does each day. Her illustration is based on a photo taken of Bo in 2010 — and Kabel says she gave Bo a scarf in her interpretation to add dimension. We’ll be watching to see where this famous pooch turns up next. — Read it at ABC News

FDA Issues Warning on Chicken Jerky Treats

Although Kasel Associated Industries issued a voluntary recall in October for one lot of its Nature’s Deli Chicken Jerky for possible Salmonella contamination, it has declined to issue a recall for a second lot of the product. So, the FDA and the Costco in Denver, where the treats are sold, are working together to remove the second lot from Colorado store shelves, also for possible Salmonella contamination. There have been no reports of illnesses related to the treats, but the FDA is warning consumers not to feed them to their pets. The lot code in question is BESTBY061913DEN and can be found on the back-side of the package on a transparent section immediately following the term "All American Dog." — Read it at DVM 360

Dalmatian Cares for Goat and Piglet

Now this is a supermom. A Dalmatian in a small town in Brazil was already mom to six 5-month-old puppies, when she then adopted a baby goat and a piglet, who she’s nursing along with her own brood. In addition to a loving mom, they all have one other thing in common: their black and white coloring. — Watch it at Today
