Family Adopts a Puppy Who Fell From the Sky (No, Really)

A California family says that they found a puppy in their backyard who they believe tumbled about 30 feet after he was dropped by a hawk who lives on their land. Taylor Callaway was playing outside when he spotted the little guy, who had talon marks on his back. After a trip to the vet, the puppy, now named T.J. Heavenly, is doing well. “When God drops a puppy from the sky, you keep it,” said Taylor's mother, Elaine Bouchard. — Watch it at KSBW

FDA Releases Official Report on Diamond Pet Food Recall

A preliminary FDA inspection report says that Diamond Pet Foods was not taking "all reasonable precautions" to make sure that the food manufactured at its South Carolina plant was safe, noting that the company used cardboard and duct tape on some of its equipment, among other findings. Diamond has recalled several brands of dry dog food in recent weeks due to salmonella contamination, which has sickened at least 16 people. — Read it at Food Safety News

Show Horse Swims Three Miles Out to Sea Before Being Rescued

During a photo shoot on the beach near Santa Barbara, Calif., a 7-year-old Arabian show horse named William got spooked by the sound of waves crashing on the shore — and bolted into the water. He was eventually spotted three miles out at sea by a search and rescue team that brought him back to land.
