There was a public outcry last week when a military veteran was arrested for criminal trespass in Georgia after breaking through a window to free a panting dog from the hot vehicle. Michael Hammons, 46, used a piece of his wife’s wheelchair to smash the window of a Ford Mustang in a shopping center parking lot. Hammons was arrested and charged at the insistence of the dog’s owner, and the situation has sparked debate over whether Georgia laws should be changed to allow someone to break a window to save an animal, which is the case in some states. — Read it at Atlanta’s 11 Alive
