Rare Lion Cubs Born in Australia

Two very unusual — and quite snuggly — African lion cubs were born five weeks ago at the Zoodoo Wildlife Park in Tasmania.

The bouncing baby boys, who have a recessive gene that gives them their beautiful white coats, like to play in a hollow log and cuddle with a stuffed animal that’s bigger than they are.

"We are so excited here, especially to get two, because there are less than 300 white lions in the world and the species is extinct in the wild,” said zoo owner Trevor Cuttriss.

The public is able to meet the cubs for now, but they won’t be permanent residents of the zoo. They’re expected to move overseas when they’re about a year old.
