The fourth annual Business of Pet Writing Conference takes place this weekend.

The fourth annual Business of Pet Writing Conference will take place Saturday at New York City's Hotel Pennsylvania (where many of the Westminster show dogs stay), and Vetstreet's executive editor, Susan Segrest, will be one of the instructors.

The conference, hosted by pet trends expert Charlotte Reed, will feature Betsy Saul, cofounder of Petfinder, as the keynote speaker. Industry experts will be teaching writers about creating compelling video, how to pitch to websites, the best ways to report breaking news, how to use social media and other strategies to build one's brand. Writers who sign up in advance will also have the opportunity to meet with editors and agents in the industry at prearranged appointment times.

The conference, which is sponsored by Greenies, BowTie Incorporated, Dyson, Animal Medical Center, Long Island Pet Professionals and the Pet Food Institute, is open to anyone wanting to learn how to write about pets. Register online up until 12 A.M. ET Saturday, or come to the conference and pay at the door. The cost for the conference is $125, or $50 if you'd like to attend only the networking lunch hosted by Westminster Kennel Club's David Frei.
