As if London didn’t have enough going on this summer — the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Olympics, the new Shard skyscraper — the London Zoo proposed transforming the iconic Gherkin building into a Humboldt penguin. The zoo hired a production team to draw of a mock of what the skyscraper would look like as the tuxedoed bird, pictured above. We have to say, if the plan were every to actually hatch, the bird-like building would definitely stand out on the London skyline.

“We know it’s audacious, but let’s be honest — penguins are a lot more interesting than gherkins!” says the zoo’s head of communications, Emma Edwards. We couldn't agree more.
