GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Dineotefuran + Pyriproxyfen + Permethrin for Dogs and Puppies is a monthly, topical spot-on product which delivers safe and effective protection against 4 types of ticks, 3 types of mosquitoes, lice, mites, sand flies and all stages of fleas on dogs. It can be used on dogs as young as 7 weeks of age for year-round treatment and prevention of these insects.
WHAT IS THIS PRODUCT?
- Dineotefuran + Pyriproxyfen + Permethrin for Dogs and Puppies is an antiparasitic agent
- A topical or spot-on product
REASONS FOR PRESCRIBING:
- To kill fleas (kills 96% of fleas within 6 hours), ticks, and mosquitoes
- Provide on-going protection for 30 days against fleas, ticks, lice, mites, sand flies and mosquitoes and the diseases they may transmit
WHAT PETS SHOULD NOT TAKE THIS MEDICATION?
- Do not use this on puppies less than 7 weeks of age
- Do not use on cats or other animals
- Consult your veterinarian before using this product on debilitated, aged, medicated, pregnant or nursing pets
- If your pet has had an allergic reaction to dineotefuran, pyriproxyfen, permethrin or like products
Read and follow the label carefully. For external use on dogs only.
Your veterinarian has chosen the dosage size based upon your dog's weight. Apply a single dose once monthly or as recommended by your veterinarian. Do not apply in less than 30 days.
Open applicator tube by holding it upright, place your thumb and index finger around the applicator tip under the large disk. With the other hand, grasp the stem of the applicator tip above the smaller disk. Press down firmly on the small disk until both disks meet, piercing the seal.
Your dog should be standing or in a comfortable position for easy application.
Using the tip of the applicator, part the hair between the dog's shoulder blades and slowly apply the product directly on the exposed skin until the tube is empty. Avoid superficial application onto the pet's hair.
For dogs weighing 2.5-20 lb, apply the product to 1 spot.
For dogs weighing 21-55 lb or 56-95 lb, apply the product to 3 spots evenly along the back, beginning between the shoulder blades and continuing down the spine to just above the base of the tail.
For dogs weighing over 95 lb, apply the product to 4 spots evenly along the back, beginning between the shoulder blades and continuing down the spine to just above the base of the tail.
For treatment, control and prevention of fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae and flea pupae, ticks and mosquitoes, year-round treatment is recommended.
Remains effective after bathing and swimming.
Use a reminder system to ensure that you do not miss a dose.
WHAT IF A DOSE IS MISSED?
If a dose is missed, give it as soon as you can, but do not re-apply more often than every 30 days unless instructed by your veterinarian. Begin a new schedule. Do not give two doses at the same time.
STORAGE AND WARNINGS:
Wash hands with soap and water after application. Avoid contact with treated area until dry. This product can cause substantial but temporary eye injury. Harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Do not get in the eyes or on clothing.
Store this product in its original packaging in a cool, dry place out of reach of children and animals. Keep from freezing.
Do not use on cats nor allow a cat to ingest this product through grooming a recently treated dog. If this occurs, contact your veterinarian immediately.
Do not use this product on people. Do not share this medication with other animals of the same or different species.
Do not contaminate water, food or feed by storage or disposal. Dispose of the package in trash or offer for recycling if available. If partially filled, call your local solid waste agency for disposal instructions. Never place unused products down a drain.
Call your physician immediately if you accidentally take this product.
POTENTIAL SIDE EFFECTS:
- A temporary irritation may develop at the site of administration.
- Individual sensitivities can occur after using any pesticide. Observe your pet following treatment. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with a mild shampoo and rinse with large amounts of water.
- If signs occur and persist, or become more severe within a few days of application, contact your veterinarian.
CAN THIS DRUG BE GIVEN WITH OTHER DRUGS?
- Yes, but possible interactions may occur with other insecticides. Ensure that your veterinarian knows all of the medicines and supplements that you are giving your pet or plan to give your pet, including those you can get without a prescription.
- If your pet experiences any unusual reactions when taking multiple medications, contact your veterinarian.
OVERDOSING?
Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet receives more than the prescribed amount.
WHAT TO TELL/ASK A VETERINARIAN BEFORE GIVING MEDICATION?
Talk to your veterinarian about:
- What are the risks and benefits of using this drug
Tell your veterinarian about:
- If your pet has experienced side-effects on other drugs/products
- If your pet has experienced any other medical problems or allergies now or ever
- All medicines and supplements that you are giving your pet or plan to give your pet, including those you can get without a prescription. Your veterinarian may want to check that all of your pet's medicines can be given together.
- If your pet is pregnant, nursing or if you plan to breed your pet
WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW?
Notify your veterinarian if your animal's condition does not improve or worsens despite this treatment.
As with all prescribed medicines, Dineotefuran + Pyriproxyfen + Permethrin for Dogs and Puppies should only be given to the pet for which it was prescribed.
It should be given only for the condition for which it was prescribed.
