Avery Creek Pet Hospital Staff Profiles

Sandra K.

Receptionist
Sandra is originally from Durham, NC where she first started working in a veterinary setting in high school. She has worked at several clinics since then and continues to expand her knowledge in the veterinary field. As a child she grew up riding and training horses so working with animals is a natural calling. Sandra enjoys interacting with clients and providing excellent customer service which is one reason she choose to work at ACPH, “ACPH does an exceptional job of making sure clients are well taken care and providing outstanding medical care to all of their patients.” Sandra has a particular interest in dog behavior and helping clients learn how they can more cohesively live with their canine companions. She is also a professional dog trainer and believes that a happy dog is one that can be fully incorporated into a family’s lifestyle. Sandra enjoys taking her two Border collie mixes mountain biking, hiking and anything else outdoors related.

Client Services
I am a native of Asheville and a lifelong member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in West Asheville. I live in the Candler area with my husband Roger. We completed our new home in March of 2014 and married in July of that same year. After combining our families we have a son and 3 daughters and 4 grandsons which we love to spoil. We are still hoping for a granddaughter so she can keep all the boys in line. Roger decided I needed to learn how to play golf so we could enjoy our retirement phase of our lives doing something fun together. So his mission began. Bottom line is, I drive a mean golf cart and we have a blast together while he plays golf! We love to travel and are talking of getting a motor home to continue enjoying life and exploring the states. We have started refinishing old furniture, pieces we have from our grandparents that had been stored away are being brought back to life and put in our home.

I have worked in the medical profession for 30 years but transferred to veterinary care in 2007. Right now we do not have any pets but we do have grand-pets that we pet-sit and spoil.

Morgan

Assistant & Receptionist
I am a Veterinary Assistant and Receptionist here at Avery Creek. I grew up in Southern California and moved to North Carolina in 2004. As a child I not only had an older sister and younger brother but plenty of animals to keep me entertained. My first pet was a sweet hen that we found walking down the street in the summer heat with no one to claim her. I then joined the local 4-H group and became part of every animal based project my parents would allow! However, it was not until my parents adopted an adorable chocolate colored terrier mix (Coco) that I realized how much I loved animals. He was quite frankly the best pet I will ever have. He saw me through middle school, high school, college and every obstacle I encountered. From then on I knew I wanted to have a career that revolved around animals. I knew I would get the opportunity to love and enjoy each pet I got the pleasure of meeting.

I have worked in the Veterinary field with small and large animals since 2006. Upon graduating from NCSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science I came to ACPH in 2014 and joined this fantastic team. I have a variety of hobbies, most of which include caring for my plethora of animals and enjoying the outdoors with my husband Jon. Currently, I have three dogs (Midas, Lola, and Bruno), four cats (Sox, Mickey, Phoenix, and Dixon), a Quaker parrot named Paullie, and eleven rabbits (yes, they all have names). Of course, I even have a few feral cats I care for but in all honesty my philosophy has always been “there’s always room for one more.”
