Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic Staff Profiles
Amy L. Platko-Williams, DVMVeterinarian
Dr. Amy Platko-Williams received her DVM from Michigan State University in 1996. Dr. Platko, a Pennsylvania native, also received a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University in 1992. In 1996, she moved to the Honesdale area where she became an associate veterinarian of the Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic. In 1998, she married her husband Clark Williams, and they currently reside in the Honesdale area along with their two daughters. Dr. Platko also shares her home and life with her dogs, Rachel and Marvin, 4 cats, and a ferret.
Dr. Platko has a special interest in Behavior and Internal Medicine, especially Endocrinology.
Outside of work, Dr. Platko enjoys growing a garden, reading, and spending time with her family (both 2- legged and 4 legged!)
Dr. Platko is a member of The American Veterinary Medical Association, The Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association.

Richard C. Trayes, VMDVeterinarian
Dr. Trayes was raised in Bangor, attended Bangor High School, and married his sweetheart on the day of the Watergate break-in. He attained his bachelor's degree from Lafeyette College and his veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Trayes joined Dr. Burlein at Cherry Ridge VC in 1976 and has made it his home ever since.
He enjoys spending time in the garden in spring and summer, water skiing in summer, the Philadelphia Eagles in fall, and downhill skiing in winter. He also treasures his family; wife Celia, three children, five grandchildren, and always the dogs. Currently taking up floor space are the two labs, Steve and Rigger, and one mixed up dog, Ruby.
His veterinary interests include surgery, behavior, and observing the interaction and love between his clients and their pets. He has been part of the growth of Cherry Ridge Veterinary clinic from mixed animal to state of the art small animal and has enjoyed it all. Dr. Trayes feels lucky to work in a practice with talented and caring doctors and staff.
Dr. Trayes is a member of the Northeast Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association and the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association.
Alicia C. Esser, DVM, DABVPVeterinarian
Dr. Esser received her DVM from Louisiana State University in 2000, after earning a Bachelor of Science from New Mexico State University. She also is board certified in Canine and Feline practice by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. Prior to attending veterinary school, Dr. Esser majored in Animal Science at NMSU and Aerospace Engineering at University of Arizona. Dr. Esser joined the staff at the Cherry Ridge Veterinary Clinic doing relief work in the summer of 2005, and as a full time associate in 2014. She has completed many additional hours of training in surgery, and finds soft tissue reconstruction particularly interesting. She sees dogs, cats, reptiles, and small mammals. Alicia's furry family includes a Walker Hound named Finn. Alicia's hobbies include: motorcycling, gardening, hiking, and snow shoeing, downhill skiing, ice skating, and cooking. Alicia also enjoys traveling and has been to many other countries with her husband John.
Dr. Esser is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and the Northeast Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Society.
