Danforth Animal Hospital began in 1981 as the "Downtown Animal Clinic," in a little red brick building at the corner of 3rd and Broadway in Edmond. The staff consisted of Dr. Ron Laughlin and his wife Nancy. By 1986 the practice had outgrown that small building and was moved to the current location at the corner of Danforth and Chowning. To better meet the needs of our clients and their pets, the new building was designed and constructed specifically as a veterinary hospital. It received a National Merit Award from the Veterinary Economics Magazine hospital design competition in 1987. Dr. Brian Hall joined the practice in 1991 followed by Dr. Donna Woods in 1997. During that period of time the staff has grown from two employees to fifteen

Our team philosophy is simple. We endeavor to treat every client the way we would like to be treated and to treat every pet as if it were our own.

Our mission is to strive for excellence in veterinary care. This involves a commitment to providing ethical, high quality, and compassionate medical and surgical services. We are devoted to fostering the human/animal bond. We are dedicated to excellence in client service by being present for our clients and providing care in an efficient manner. We aspire to be leaders and innovators in our approach to veterinary care. This includes providing a stimulating, challenging, and well-equipped work environment. We also encourage our staff to find fun in their workday while excelling as the professionals that they are.

Danforth Animal Hospital Staff Profiles

Jay Hansen, Kennel Technician

I started working for the Danforth Animal Hospital in the summer of 2006, but have lived here in Edmond my entire life. In 2009 I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a B.A. in English Education, and am now a certified state English teacher for grades six through twelve. There hasn’t been a time in my life where I’ve been without animals, and right now I’ve got two dogs of my own on top of the countless others I’ve gotten to know here at the hospital. I’ve now gained five years of experience in the field of small animal care and handling, and look forward to many more. Show More

Jennifer Bostwick, Receptionist

Growing up in a rural area north of Edmond, I developed an appreciation for all of my natural surroundings. I had several "pets" while growing up and not just the four-legged kind. This included, to my grandmother’s dismay, bringing snakes home that I would find under overturned rocks. I learned to respect nature at an early age.

When the opportunity to work for Dr. Ron Laughlin arose, I was very excited about working with the animals but did not realize all that I would learn in the process.

I began working at Danforth Animal Hospital in 1998 and for the next three years, learned more than I could imagine. I moved to Texas in 2000 and began working at an internal medicine referral practice for animals in Dallas. After several years in Texas, I decided it was time to come "home" to Oklahoma.

I had considered a job outside of veterinary medicine but soon realized that being a Veterinary Assistant is the best job ever! There is not another veterinary practice I would choose to work for but Danforth Animal Hospital. Many of the doctors and staff have been here for over ten years, not to mention the same about the clients that come here.

I returned to Danforth Animal Hospital in May of 2007. Once I started working again at the hospital, I recognized so many of the clients I had known from six years back. That says a lot about a great group of people. I am proud to be one of them again.

Mendy Laughlin, DVM

I was born and raised in Woodward, Oklahoma where I grew up surrounded by horses, sheep, goats, and various assortments of small animals. From a very young age I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian. Working in a veterinary clinic while attending high school fueled my passion even more. I was accepted into Oklahoma State University and received my B.S. in Animal Science in 2003 before going on to graduate with my DVM from OSU in 2006. Before joining Danforth Animal Hospital in September 2007, I worked at a small and mixed animal practice in Stillwater for a year. Veterinary medicine is a very rewarding career for me. I enjoy every day I spend with animals and their owners! You never know what adventures each day might bring!

We live in Edmond with our twin daughters, Renna and Reagan. We have two black and white painted horses, two cats, a Maltese named Laney, and a Golden Retriever named Ozzy. In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors, horseback riding, and spending time with my family and friends.
