Eastgate Pet Clinic Staff Profiles

Dr. Robert Gilmore

Dr. Robert Gilmore was born to an Air Force family, and has lived in various parts of the country as a child. He lived in Tachikawa, Japan for 5 years. The family moved to Boise in 1970.

Dr. Gilmore graduated from Capital High School in Boise in 1974. He attended the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, where he received a B.S. degree in Bacteriology in 1977 and a M.S. degree in Veterinary Science in 1978. He completed his M.S. degree while in his first year of veterinary school. He graduated from Washington State University in 1982 as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Following graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Gilmore practiced in Gresham, Oregon. He moved to Merced, California and married Dr. Mary Fowler in 1983. During the three years he practiced companion animal medicine in California, Dr. Gilmore was the primary veterinarian for the San Joaquin Raptor Rescue Center. Dr. Gilmore provided free medical care and surgery for numerous owls and hawks during this time. He was given an honorary lifetime membership in the Raptor Rescue Center when left California.

Dr. Gilmore returned to Boise and established the Eastgate Pet Clinic in 1986. Drs. Gilmore and Fowler have two grown children, Jonah and Amaris. Dr. Gilmore holds a third degree black belt in Shorinryu. He was first ranked as a black belt at the age of 46. He can be found working out with the Boise dojo of the International Karate League 3 nights per week. Dr. Gilmore's hobby is collecting antique Japanese swords. He has been actively collecting for about 30 years. He has accumulated a reference library of over 100 books on Japanese swords, many of them written in Japanese. His collection of swords and spears currently the 16th to 20th centuries.

Dr. Clyde Cieszynski

Dr. Cieszynski was born and raised in Wisconsin. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and a Master's of Science from the University of Tennessee- Knoxville. He obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University- Ames, Iowa. After graduation, he was employed in mixed practice in Northern Wisconsin for 6 years. In 1991 he joined the United States Air Force and served until October of 1994. He has been with Eastgate Pet Clinic since the summer of 1995.

Dr. C actively enjoys the outdoors. He has participated many times in the Blooms Day Run in Spokane, Washington, and the Robie Creek Run in Boise. He enjoys camping, hiking, and collecting edible wild mushrooms. Dr. C also enjoys the Hawaiian Islands, and manages to go most years.

Kylene Patterson

Office Manager
An Idaho native, Kylene grew up in a herd of sisters with plenty of dogs, rabbits and ponies around.  Her business education led to 26 years of computer programming before she joined Eastgate Pet Clinic.  She has played and directed handbells and french horn.  Kylene along with her husband, and daughter have hosted over a dozen exchange students from a half dozen different countries.  She enjoys walking with her dog and hanging out with family.
