James H. Block DVMMedical Director, Snapper Creek
Dr. James H. Block attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1968 and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in 1970. He received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois in 1972.
Dr. Block has been involved in many organizations, including the South Florida Veterinary Medical Association, where he was president in 1991. He was also a member of Rotary International for 25 years, and he was club president in 1985. For ten years, Dr. Block served on the Board of Governors and the Board of Trustees for the Zoological Society of Florida. He is currently a member of the AVMA and the FVMA/SFVMA, the American Heartworm Society, as well as the Emergency and Critical Care Society.
Dr. Block’s experience prior to veterinary school included stints with Dr. LA Dykstra in a private practice and with Dr. George Muller, a dermatology specialty practice in Walnut Creek, CA.
He holds veterinary licenses in the states of Illinois and Florida.
Dr. Block has a special interest in internal medicine. He has been recognized by Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Young Men of America, and Who’s Who in Veterinary Medicine and Science.
Marina Riera DVMVeterinarian
Dr. Marina Riera was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She attended Franklin & Marshall College in Pennsylvania and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then obtained her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Ross University and did her clinical year at the University of Florida. Areas of professional interest include emergency medicine and soft tissue surgery.
In her free time, Dr. Riera enjoys ocean activities, traveling, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family.
Eric Martinez DVMVeterinarian
Dr. Martίnez was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He attended the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez for his veterinary prerequisites and took part in multiple research projects. He was accepted to LSU School of Veterinary Medicine, where he also developed a passion for Tiger football (Geaux Tigers!!), crawfish and other delicious Cajun food. After obtaining his DVM degree, he successfully completed a small animal medicine/surgery rotation and small animal surgical internship in South Florida. Dr. Martinez’s interests include orthopedic and emergency surgeries, along with emergency medicine. His goal is to obtain a residency and become a board certified surgeon. In his free time, Dr. Martinez likes to spend time with his wife, their beautiful baby, 2 dogs and cat, as well as diving, sailing and other water sports.
