Pleasant Valley Animal Hospital is a full-service AAHA certified animal hospital and boarding kennel in Pleasant Valley, New York. We offer veterinary medical, dental and surgical services, veterinary acupuncture, preventive medicine, health maintenance, boarding, grooming and emergency services for your cats, dogs, ferrets, rabbits, and pocket pets. Our goal is to add years to your pet’s life and life to their years.
Pleasant Valley Animal Hospital offers a variety of holistic treatments, including acupuncture, veterinary myotherapy, and nutritional guidance and supplementation to maintain your pet’s health and well-being.
A holistic approach to health focuses on addressing health concerns by looking at your pet in his or her entirety, as a physical, emotional, and spiritual being. Treatment goals are to reduce or eliminate symptoms and prevent future disease without side effects. We believe in our work, and so do our clients.

Dr. Jayme Motler DVM, CVA
Dr. Motler graduated with honor from Michigan State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995, and has been a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist since 2010. She has worked as both a Relief Veterinarian for various local hospitals throughout the Hudson Valley and Connecticut since 1996, and as an Associate Veterinarian for the Ulster Animal Hospital since 2004. Dr. Motler has also served as an Associate State Veterinarian for the New Jersey Racing commission since 1999, a Racing Official- Examining Veterinarian for the New York Racing Commission since 1998, and an Event Veterinarian for the Kent School Horse Trials since 2006. In addition to this, she has also owned and operated her own mobile practice, Hoof and Paw Veterinary Services, since February 2005.
Dr. Motler purchased the practice as of July 2, 2014 and intends to continue the legacy of superb veterinary care and a caring approach to the patients of our practice.Show More

Dr. Martha Gearhart, DVM, DABVP, CVADr. Gearhart received her DVM degree from the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell in 1979 and her B.A. from Bryn Mawr College in 1975. She has practiced in the Hudson Valley since 1982. In 1985, she qualified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and since her specialty certification, she has limited her clinical work to companion animals, including ferrets, pocket pets, and rabbits as well as dogs and cats.Her special interests include geriatrics, feline medicine, cancer therapy, infectious diseases, dentistry, and nutrition. In 2003, she became certified in veterinary acupuncture by the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and is a member of the American Academy of Veterinary Acupuncture and the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association. In addition, she is a long-standing member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, American Animal Hospital Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and New York State Veterinary Medical Society.
In addition to her clinical work, she has published widely on a variety of animal health subjects for many publications including Cats, Dog World, and refereed veterinary journals. In 1988, Dr. Gearhart was selected by the American Veterinary Medical Association to be the first recipient of a Congressional Science and Engineering Fellowship in Washington, D.C. in affiliation with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, where she worked as a technical advisor to Senator Kent Conrad on the 1990 Farm Bill.
Dr. Gearhart has also served as a consultant to Pfizer Animal Health, Inc. from 1996 until 2000, while continuing to work on animal health and welfare issues in the policy arena. For ten years Dr. Gearhart directly provided or organized Ask The Doctor services at the Dutchess County Cat Show in Poughkeepsie as well as at the Canine Tent at the Dutchess County Fair. These events are a natural extension of her work with the Dutchess County SPCA, P.A.N.T. and Mid Hudson Animal Aid. In 1997, the New York State Veterinary Medical Society granted Dr. Gearhart a Merit Award in recognition of her work and service to the profession.
