Shore Veterinarians Hammonton Staff Profiles

Dr. Carrie Miller

Dr. Carrie A. Miller is a 2003 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During veterinary school, Carrie gained additional experience as a nurse in Penn's small animal intensive care unit. She also worked in Penn's Oncology department, where she co-published a research paper on mammary carcinomas. Carrie's veterinary training began at Manor College, a small school in Jenkintown, PA, on an academic/soccer scholarship.

She graduated at the top of her class with a degree in Veterinary Technology. She began nursing at Metropolitan Veterinary Associates, a specialty and emergency practice in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, and realized she had found her chosen career. Carrie then enrolled at Beaver College, also on athletic/academic scholarship. Her undergraduate thesis compared levels of glycosaminoglycans in animals with rare genetic diseases treated with enzyme replacement therapy or bone marrow transplants at Penn's Genetic Disease Research facility. Carrie graduated with honors and was recognized by the American Chemical Society for her excellence in chemistry. Today, she does not encounter many small animals with rare genetic diseases, but recently, she did recognize suspicious abnormalities in a kitten brought in for routine care. "Adrienne" was diagnosed with Mucopolysaccharidosis VII through the University of Penn's Pediatric Service, the same rare disease Carrie had studied. Unfortunately, at this time, there is no cure and the disease is progressive and debilitating in humans and in animals. Dr. Miller has been an associate with Shore Vets, since 2003. She currently resides in Ocean City with her husband and her two daughters.

Dr. Richard Blose

Owner / Veterinarian
Richard Blose, DVM is a 1987 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, and is one of the partners of Shore Veterinarians. He originally practiced in northern New Jersey before moving to the Cape/Atlantic area, and has had extensive experience in emergency medicine and surgery. While still a general practitioner, Dr. Blose has developed a special interest in soft tissue and orthopedic surgery, with training and experience in a wide variety of procedures. He believes that many clients who cannot afford referral to a specialty surgical center can still get quality surgical care for their pets instead of being left untreated. He has been practicing for 25 years, and has been associated with Shore Veterinarians for 23 years.

Also pictured is his 9 year old dachshund, Max.

While her pugs can sometimes be difficult patients, Jessica still has a special fondness for pugs.
