Local Medical Issues
There are numerous local medical issues that can impact your pet's health, and that require your attention over the entire year. For example, heartworm disease, which can affect both cats and dogs is transmitted by mosquitoes that thrive in our region. This disease is a serious cause for concern. We often see the potential for flea and tick infestation as well as intestinal parasitism. Both of these conditions are a problem in any season.
Also, contrary to what many people expect, allergies are a year-round issue. Many pets suffer from skin and ear allergies, the signs of which include scratching, redness in the ears and scaly skin.
