VCA Orange County Veterinary Hospital Staff Profiles

Alan Shanker, DVM

Hospital Director
Your pet is a family member, and his care becomes a joint responsibility for both the owner and veterinarian.

As trained professionals, my staff and I give our recommendations for the best possible care starting with preventative medicine and when necessary medical treatment. High tech diagnostics and treatment are useful tools when indicated.

However, less costly approaches can also be discussed. If a difficult decision needs to be made, my job is to give the owner the most information so an educated decision can be made.

Orthopedics, Dermatology, Surgery

Elizabeth Wardell, DVM

Dr. Wardell comes to OCVH after doing an internship in Emergency Medicine in Massachusetts.

Dr. Wardell earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University. Elizabeth still misses the island life of St. Kitts, especially during winter. Luckily for OCVH and her patients Dr. Wardell has chosen to return to the Hudson Valley, where she grew up and went to college in the Poughkeepsie area. Dr. Wardell now lives locally with her feisty rescue cat Carina. In her free time, Elizabeth is a coupon fanatic.

We are pleased that Dr. Voge has returned to the Northeast—after Veterinary School at Iowa State and practice in Arizona and Texas. She brings with her knowledge and experience in all phases of small animal medicine, with a special interest in pocket pets. “Hamsters to Hounds”.

Dr. Voge shares her life with husband Dr. Jared Voge, an equine specialist and 2 year old son Carter. Along for the journey are mini Aussies Cy & Harley and feline Faith.
