VCA Park Cities Animal Hospital Staff Profiles

David Hille, DVM

Veterinarian / Owner
Dr. Hille developed an early interest in veterinary medicine while helping out on his uncle’s dairy farm in Connecticut. He grew up in a military family, moving 12 times before finishing high school, but he always looked forward to holidays and school breaks when he would return to the dairy farm.

Dr. Hille selected Oklahoma State University for his veterinary education and graduated in 1985. At that time he immediately accepted a position at Park Cities Animal Hospital and became co-owner in 1998. Dr. Hille enjoys the pursuit of continuing education and has always sought to bring the most advanced options for the early detection of disease to his patients. His peers recognized him in 2000, when he was elected as President of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice, which is an organization devoted to continuing education for veterinarians. Dr. Hille is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association and Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association.

Karl Black, JD, DVM

Veterinarian / Owner
Dr. Black is a native Dallisite and graduated from Greenhill School in 1979. Although veterinary medicine was his earliest aspiration, his professional life took other paths for several years. Upon graduation from Southwestern University in 1983, he became a real estate appraiser and broker in Dallas. In 1986, Dr. Black enrolled in law school and earned his law degree from Santa Clara University in California in 1988. Even as he began practicing law, Dr. Black knew that he had to pursue his childhood wish to become a veterinarian.

Dr. Black attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M and graduated in 1996. He began practicing veterinary medicine at Park Cities Animal Hospital soon after. Since that time, he has enjoyed the satisfaction and rewards that come from doing what he loves most, which is caring for companion animals and their people.

Dr. Cortiaus loves being able to help patients who cannot help themselves. He appreciates the fact that he can relieve their discomfort and help them live better lives. It is also very important to “Dr. Bill” to be able to work with both animals and their people simultaneously to create a better environment for both.
