Dr. Amy BearVeterinarian
Dr. Amy Bear fell in love with veterinary medicine while volunteering at a small animal practice in St. Paul, MN. She had been working in cancer research at the University of Minnesota and was considering teaching as a career, but quickly discovered that veterinary medicine encompassed teaching as well as her other interests in animals, science and working with people and their pets. She enjoys developing relationships with clients and their dogs and cats, and being a part of their pet’s health care decisions. She is also a strong advocate of assuring the comfort of the patients of PineRidge Pet Care. She has been with this practice for more than 15 years.
Amy has a special interest in rehabilitation of dogs, and is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP), completed through the University Of Tennessee College Of Veterinary Medicine. She works with dogs following orthopedic and neurologic surgeries as well as elderly arthritic dogs or dogs with other chronic musculoskeletal disorders.
Amy shares her life with her dogs Lily (Border collie), and Annie (terrier mutt) . She enjoys traveling the world, attempts at gardening, photography, hiking and camping in remote areas, and discovering back-road restaurants on their travels.

Dr. Daryl HartmanVeterinarian
Dr. Daryl Hartman is CEO and Medical Director for the Anoka Area Veterinary Associates, P.A., d.b.a. PineRidge Pet Care Hospital And Wellness Center. As Medical Director, Dr. Hartman is responsible for medical protocols, the veterinarian staff, and general medical care.
Dr. Hartman, a 1978 graduate of Iowa State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, started practice in Richfield, Mn. In 1980, he joined the staff at Anoka West Pet Hospital, in Ramsey, Mn. In 1981, he became a partner and helped establish the St. Francis Pet Clinic in St. Francis, Mn., Andover Pet Clinic in Andover, Mn., and finally, PineRidge Pet Care Hospital and Wellness Center in Andover, Mn. He spends his time as a general practitioner, also performing surgery, dentistry, and Medical Director duties. He has a special interest in endoscopy and ultrasound.
Dr. Hartman has been married to Lyn since 1974, and has three grown children, Courtney, Adam, and Sarah. He currently has one dog, a Golden Retriever named Libby. He loves biking, kayaking, boating, reading, restoring antiques (lives in a house built in 1885), and spending quality family time. He is an active member of the Anoka United Methodist Church.

Dr. Michael CookVeterinarian
Dr. Michael Cook is the Director of Hospital Administration and Chief Financial Officer for the Anoka Area Veterinary Associates, P.A. As Director of Hospital Administration, Dr. Cook is in charge of practice management and is responsible for directing the financial outcome of the veterinary practice.
Dr. Cook, a 1968 graduate of Coon Rapids High School, has practiced in the Anoka Area since 1975. Upon graduation from the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1975, he joined the staff of the Anoka West Pet Hospital as the first employed veterinarian. Dr. Cook became a partner in 1978 and continued to work as a general practitioner at the Anoka West Pet Hospital, the St. Francis Pet Clinic and the Andover Pet Clinic until 1991. Burdened with allergies to animals, he retired from general practice and focused his efforts as a general surgeon for the group practice.
Dr. Cook has also become a student of veterinary practice management and has spent an extensive amount of time redefining the business of veterinary medicine. He is Chief Executive Officer of Professional Veterinary Management Services, Inc. a veterinary practice management group that is committed to lowering the cost of healthcare delivery to animals. Dr. Cook spent six years on the board of governors and is a past president and Chief Manager for the Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service, PLLC. This organization provides after-hours
emergency care for pets throughout the metropolitan region. He has also acted as an advisor and part time instructor for a Practice Readiness course at the University Of Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine.
