John D. Vagnetti, Jr., DVM

Dr. Vagnetti was inspired to become a veterinarian as a youngster while visiting his cousin's veterinary clinic. As he watched a litter of puppies being delivered by c-section, he decided to pursue veterinary medicine.

Following graduation in 1983 from Michigan State University, College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Vagnetti left the Great Lakes, trees, and snow to begin his career at Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Vagnetti's professional interests include reptile medicine and small mammal medicine.

Dr. Vagnetti enjoys traveling, fishing, scuba diving, and reading. He and his wife, Alpha, include their two dogs in many of their outdoor adventures.

Michigan State University

Debra P. Kellams, DVM

Dr. Debra Kellams was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Edinboro University in 1976, she moved to Tucson to work in the virology lab at the University of Arizona. Her background in the medical field and great love of animals influenced her decision to pursue a career as a veterinarian.

Dr. Kellams joined Valley in 1985, after graduating from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. Her service provides small animal medicine and surgery, including special interests in avian and exotic mammal medicine and surgery. She has also developed her skills in veterinary abdominal ultrasound.

Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include spending time with family, skiing, aerobics, and cycling.

Colorado State University

Alexis R. Moreno, DVM

Dr. Alexis Moreno worked at Valley Animal Hospital as a veterinary assistant during her undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona. She graduated from Colorado State University, College of Veterinary medicine in 2003. Following an internship in Florida, she was hired as an associate and practiced in Florida for 18 months before returning to Valley as a staff veterinarian in October 2005.  Dr. Moreno enjoys cardiology, avian and exotic mammal medicine and surgery, as well as emergency medicine. She had the opportunity in Florida to provide marine mammal rehabilitation.  Dr. Moreno and her husband have three daughters, two birds, and two dogs. The outdoors is where Dr. Moreno prefers to spend leisure time. Show More
