WNC Veterinary Hospital Staff Profiles
Dr. Brett Young, DVMVeterinarian
I am a native of Charlotte and a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and the Royal Veterinary College, London, UK. I have been practicing in the Asheville area since 2003. In February of 2009, I joined WNC Veterinary Hospital. I enjoy Internal Medicine, Surgery, and Ultrasonography. I have an amazing wife and two young children. I also have two quirky rescue dogs; Buddy and Docky.
In my spare time I enjoy hiking, biking and running. I love the outdoors and love to take time with my family to go to the lake with my boat.
Dr. Sara Farmer, DVMI am originally from Boulder, Colorado and attended the University of Colorado for an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology. I received my DVM from Colorado State University in 2008 and following graduation moved to Knoxville, Tennessee for an additional one year internship at the University of Tennessee where I met my husband. I have spent the last 5 years practicing emergency medicine at a 24 hour referral hospital in Richmond, Virginia, and now I am very excited to be joining the team at WNC in June of 2015. I have a special interest in ultrasound, endocrinology, and geriatric medicine and hospice care.
In my spare time, I enjoy eating and cooking gourmet food, trying to keep up with my husband on mountain biking trails, and getting in over my head with home improvement projects. My four legged family includes a Brittany named Josephine, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Ophelia, two orange kitties named Zufi and Marzi, and we have recently added a two legged member: our daughter Helen. I have previously been employed at day practices in Arizona & Florida, before I moved to North Carolina. After working in an emergency hospital for a year, I longed for the day practice family and the established relationships that go with it. In May, I was very fortunate to be able to join the team at WNC Veterinary Hospital. When I am not at work, meditation, outdoor activities, my 2 dogs and one crazy cat keep me fulfilled. I love working with the staff at WNC and look forward to continue my career here.
