Baby Javan Gibbon Sticks With Mom
Hang on, baby!
When Pangrango, a Javan Gibbon, swings from branch to branch at the Hellabrunn Zoo in Munich, Germany, she has a baby on board.
The monkey was born on Aug. 19, and is well protected by mom Pangrango, 15, dad Peter and their three other offspring. At just a month old, the baby is nursing from mom and trying out solid foods. So far, keepers haven’t been able to determine if the little one is a boy or a girl.
The primates, who only live in the wild on the Indonesian island of Java, are part of an endangered species, with only about 2,000 of them in the world.
