Flamingo parents and chick

Admit it — nothing gets you in the mood like Barry White’s Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Babe. Well, White’s seductive voice also seems to work on our feathered friends, too. After a three-year dry spell of no hatchlings, staff members at Drusillas Park in the U.K., played the classic baby-making tunes of Barry White and Marvin Gaye in their Chilean flamingo enclosure to encourage the flock to breed.

Let’s Get It On seems to have done the trick — a pair of the pink birds are now proud parents of an adorable baby chick and three more eggs will be hatching in the next few weeks!

Of course, love songs aren’t the only tactic the park used. The zoo also piped in recordings of mating calls from other Chilean flamingos and placed mirrors in their enclosure to create the illusion of a fuller flock. The zoo even made nests and placed fake eggs on top. All the zoo was missing was a candlelit dinner and a bouquet of roses.
