A Shepherd mix who was nearly put down after spending a year on the adoption list at an Atlanta shelter repaid her new family by saving them from a potentially deadly gas leak. Last month, Kailey, 3, was adopted by Suzy Chandler, who fell in love with her after reading a Facebook post by her foster mom. Chandler says Kailey started acting strangely on Friday morning, suddenly barking and growling to get her family’s attention. Chandler brought Kailey outside, and the dog immediately pulled her to the side yard. “Right away I smelled overpowering gas and a loud whooshing sound,” Chandler said.
