Reunited and it feels so good!

After more than two years of living apart, hippos Otis and Funani, who each top 3,000 pounds, showed only small signs of being territorial when they were reintroduced to each other at the San Diego Zoo — such as Funani making it clear that the 150,000-gallon pool belonged to her alone.

When their vets and keepers deem them ready, the pair will live together full time. The partners have a 2.5-year-old calf together, who was recently weaned from Funani and transferred to the Los Angeles Zoo. Otis, meanwhile, is on loan from the L.A. Zoo.
