Photographer: “Everyone Loves Bo”

Late last month, official White House photographer Pete Souza joined Instagram, where he shares a behind-the-scenes look at life at 1600 Pennsylvania using his iPhone. And there’s already a breakout star from his page: Bo. Souza says he practiced being creative with his iPhone on the lovable 4-year-old Portuguese Water Dog. “Bo is a great subject because, well, he’s Bo. Everyone loves Bo,” Souza said. His latest photo of the pooch, sitting in the Oval Office with a tennis ball in his mouth, gained 7,700 likes. The first dog has been making headlines this week for getting a lift to Massachusetts’ Martha’s Vineyard in an MV-22 Osprey to join his family. Fingers crossed for a glimpse of a vacationing Bo! — Read it at Today

Former Cowboys Coach Saves Puppy

Barry Switzer, a former coach for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, was in a parking lot on Wednesday when he noticed a Rottweiler puppy in the back of a van. The windows were open, but Switzer was worried because it was an “awful hot” day. So, he stayed and watched for her owners to come back. Then, he bought the puppy from them and took her to the vet. He brought the pup, who he named Stella, home with him, but because the animal loving coach already has so many dogs, he found another good home for Stella — with a couple who’d lost their former home in the Moore, Okla., tornado in May. — Read it at Paw Nation
