A Halloween Message from Your Pets

Dear Humans,

You’re going to have to explain Halloween to us because we just don’t get it. So many things don’t make sense  — do you really want to be scared? Why? And what’s with the constant doorbell ringing? (We think that’s pretty scary, honestly.)

But the part that confuses us most is the costume. You go around to all the other humans asking for treats, but you only get one if you’re dressed up, right? Don’t take this the wrong way, but we think you’re making this begging thing much more complicated than it needs to be.

We get that you like to dress up (it’s weird but whatever, you do you) — but do you have to subject us to wearing costumes? We honestly don’t need fancy outfits to beg for treats. We’re just fine begging naked. Trust us.

Still not convinced of our disdain for Halloween? Check out the slideshow below to see some of our fellow pets looking downright miserable in their costumes. (Please try to ignore the cuteness. We’re miserable. We promise! Now where are those treats?)

Sincerely,

Your Faithful Furry Friends

This kitty tried to tell his owners he was Team Superman — but they just wouldn't listen.

Blaze the Boykin, er, Oktoberfest Fraulein, hopes there isn’t a Novemberfest she’ll have to dress up for, too.

They say orange is the new black, but this pup is not buying it.

Shrody is a little insulted that he has to dress up like a bird.

For these two, Halloween is just another painful reminder of the discrimination they endure. Every year they hope for scary costumes, but, sadly, those don't come in teacup sizes.

We promise we're not trying to trick you: This is not a baby pig in a pig costume (although that would be awesome). No, this is actually an adorable puppy, looking none too pleased by the obvious resemblance!

Note to humans: It is extremely difficult to maintain your dignity while wearing a light-up skeleton mask.

This little guy was disappointed to learn that dressing up as a law enforcement officer doesn't mean he can insist everyone surrender their snacks to him.

Simba thought her costume was bad enough, but to add insult to injury, her owners keep referring to her crate as "the cupboard."
