Are Some Cat Breeds Smarter Than Others?

Larger, heavy-bodied breeds such as Persians and Himalayans are less interested in being in the middle of every activity and so are considered to be less intelligent as well. I can only imagine what a Persian thinks about an Abyssinian who learns to fetch. “You call that ‘smart’?” sniffs the Persian. “The dog can fetch, and he’s a moron."

For that matter, isn’t it kind of insulting to cats that those breeds said to be more intelligent are often described as being doglike? As for "stupid" cats: If you have someone to care for your every need, and all you have to do is nap and look gorgeous ... well, I think that's a pretty smart way to live, don't you?
