After staying by their handlers’ sides throughout the Invictus Games in Disney World, the service dogs who help the wounded veterans got the best reward: a chance to compete in an adorable, friendly swim race. The dogs — many of them water-loving Labs — got to dive in and swim a few laps as the games ended on Thursday night. Prince Harry created the games in 2014 for servicemembers with life-changing injuries. He was there to help the wet dogs out of the pool before the closing ceremonies. “The dogs are providing a huge service to these guys,” said retired U.S. Air Force Sgt. Leonard Anderson, who was at the games with his dog, Azza. “She’s the reason I’m here.”
