A 6-pound Chihuahua is adjusting to life in a loving new home after an employee at the Montgomery County, Maryland, recycling plant found him in the back of a trash compactor truck last week. Luckily for the pooch, named Packer, the ride lead to a new home with the employee, Mark Wheeler, and his wife. “Sometimes, the word recycling takes on a whole new meaning!” said the Maryland Environmental Service in a Facebook post. “Our thanks to employee Mark Wheeler for not only taking care of the dog at the facility, but also adopting him as part of his family.” — Read it at People Pets
