Available in nine colors, the OllyDog Nightlife leash ($20) and collar ($18-$20) don't just satisfy your safety concerns, they also let you show a bit of style.
The Nite Brite reflective harness from Four Paws, available in three colors to go along with the Nite Brite leash, truly appears to glow when light hits its reflective material, making this a super safe option for your pet.
The Company of Animals
Is it walk time or party time? The Company of Animals Vivid flashing collar ($24.99) features four settings: light-sensitive mode (meaning the lights automatically come on when it gets dark out), slow flashing, fast flashing and permanently on. Even without the bright LED lights (which stay charged for up to 15 hours of contiuous use), the padded collar is highly visible due to strips of reflective material.
The paw-print and bone design on the Petco step-in harness (on sale for $7.99-$13.59) are adorable any time of day, but the fact that that the design is reflective makes it a smart choice for nighttime walks.
The RetroReflector Mini-R collar ($14-$18) has anywhere from five to nine mini bicycle reflectors (depending on the size of the collar) to provide serious long-range visibility. No batteries are required and eight color combinations are listed on the website, but if you don't see quite what you're looking for the company will customize a collar just for you.
What if you don't want to change out your dog's collar or leash but still want great visibility? The FetchDog Beacon Safety dog light ($16.95) is sturdy, watertight, lightweight and easy to use. Attach it to a collar, harness, lifevest — you name it — and choose blink, rapid blink or steady.
Doctors Foster and Smith
Sometimes you need more than visibility to protect your pet. When the elements become an issue, look for a coat with reflective material, like this Seattle slicker from Doctors Foster and Smith ($9.99-$16.99).
Get just the look you want for your furry friend with a custom collar like Coastal Pet Products' personalized reflective nylon collar ($16.99 at PetSmart). You can opt for a darling design, like the ones shown here, or go with something more practical, like the dog's name and your phone number.
If you're really serious about safety, you might consider the Petflect Safety System ($35.99). It really has everything you need — a reflective leash, collar and a bright, lightweight vest that makes even the most camouflaged dog easy to spot.
