We love popular names like Bella as much as the next pet owner, but if we're being honest, we have a true soft spot for really unusual and clever pet names.
We checked Vetstreet's database of more than 89 million dogs and 49 million cats for names that appeared just once. From there, we divided them into categories and selected the very best of each. This category, featuring names of celebrities, fictional characters and historical figures, might be the best of the bunch!
(Note: These are not pictures of the actual pets with those names; our database has the names only, not the images. But if you have an adorable pet with a rare name, please submit a photo to our Facebook page. We'd love to see it!)
We might not like the Hulk when he's angry, but it's hard to imagine a pup with this name being anything but entirely lovable, all the time.
And you thought your cat was a lover.
Considering how great a friend Chewy was to Han Solo, we can see how this play on the name would be an appealing moniker for a furry friend.
Suddenly we're inspired to come up with a parody titled The Tell-Tale Fart. Those of you who have ever had a Pug will know exactly why.
As if anybody could resist such a cleverly named kitty, even if she is sometimes on the prowl.
We have a feeling the only thing this guy is likely to massacre is a bowl of kibble.
Expecto Patronum! Come on. You know your patronus would be four-legged and furry and probably look just like this fella.
Want to bet he's a Democat?
Put him on a desk filled with small items and we guarantee he'll show you his version of "whacks on, whacks off."
If her collar and leash actually match, we're going to be horribly disappointed.
Give him enough catnip and he'll fly around the room just like Ironman.
Can somebody please turn some curtains into a gown for this young lady?
He's the most trusted cat in America, and that's the way it is.
If you don't believe cats and Shakespeare are a natural fit, think again.
