Rescued Frozen Puppy Named Olaf
A Husky and Shepherd mix puppy was found frozen to the ground at a dump in the rural village of Chevak, Alaska, last Wednesday. He was named Olaf after the snowman in Disney’s hit animated movie “Frozen,” and was flown 500 miles across the state from the wilderness where he was abandoned to get the medical care he needed in Anchorage. He’s now warming up in a cozy home with a foster family. It’s not uncommon for dogs to be abandoned in the rural parts of the state, and rescue groups are trying to get the word out that they’re there to help and to offer spaying and neutering. Alaska Animal Rescue Friends is now working to find the perfect forever home for Olaf. — Watch it at Boston’s WHDH
Four Sea Lions Returned to Wild
Last week, staff members from Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium stepped in to help an all-volunteer group in Santa Barbara, California, with an unprecedented number of starving, stranded sea lion pups. Channel Islands Marine & Wildlife Institute has rescued more than 100 pups so far this year. The group temporarily helped out with rescues and rehabilitations, and then assisted returning four recovered sea lions to the wild. One CIWW volunteer described the pups as being “on death’s door” in many cases when they were rescued. So it’s particularly inspiring when they’re able to be released. “When they’re finally healthy enough, my favorite part is actually getting to take them back out on the release and open the door and watch them go back into the wild,” she says in a video the Shedd posted on Facebook. — Watch it from Shedd Aquarium via Facebook

Puppy Saved From Apartment Blaze
Olaf in Alaska isn’t the only puppy rescue we have to tell you about today. On Friday, firefighters in Baltimore County, Maryland, saved a white puppy from “heavy fire conditions” in a Parkville apartment. Thankfully, they were able to quickly contain the blaze. According to a Facebook post from the department, EMT and firefighter Walter Sanders located the family pet during search and rescue operations. The puppy looked quite happy as Sanders carried him out to safety. — Read it from Baltimore County Fire via Facebook
Racehorse Sports Custom Tweed Suit
Morestead looks quite dapper in his designer three-piece suit — and it looks like he knows it. It took a team of seamstresses and tailors four weeks to create the horse’s suit, which was designed by Emma Sandham-King, an apprentice of the famed British design brand Alexander McQueen. The handsome model’s photo shoot was released to kick off Cheltenham Festival, which is the biggest date on England’s racing calendar after the Grand National. — See photos at Buzzfeed
