Snoop Dogg Becomes Snoop Lion

This Dogg is ready to roar.
Crediting a spiritual awakening he had while in Jamaica earlier this year, the rapper known as Snoop Dogg is renaming himself for the king of the jungle: he’s now Snoop Lion, reports the Washington Post.
Along with the name change comes a change in musical style. Instead of his signature rap, Snoop Lion is working on a reggae album called “Reincarnated.” Film crews have been following the recording sessions for a documentary that’s set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival.
He’s taking his name change seriously. The artist said this week that he was christened Snoop Lion by a Rastafarian priest.
“I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg.’ And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion,’” he told reporters. “From that moment on, it's like I had started to understand why I was there.”
